Welcome to the Umeå Renewable Energy Meeting 2012!
For the fourth time the Chemistry and Biology Centre (KBC; www.kbc.umu.se) at Umeå University, Sweden, organizes 14-16 March 2012, a Renewable Energy symposium at Umeå University, Sweden.
The symposium aims to strengthen our efforts towards research in the renewable energy field that is carried out within several strong research environments and research programmes at Umeå University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences: BioImprove (www.bioimprove.se), Solar Fuels, Bio4Energy (www.bio4energy.se), and ETPC (www.chem.umu.se/etpc), Trees and Crops for the future (www.tc4f.se).
The symposium will cover a broad range of topics including natural and artificial photosynthesis, hydrogen production in microorganisms, and biomass production in plant/forest tree feedstocks.
We will start the symposium on 14 March 2012 at around 4 pm, and the meeting will run until afternoon on 16 March. We will have common dinners both on 14 and 15 March.
We welcome international participants to our interdisciplinary meeting, not only PIs, post docs and graduate students of KBC. The meeting has been growing over the years and in 2011 we had well over 100 participants. The symposium is organized together with the KBC graduate school. PhD students will receive 1 ECTS certificate from KBC research school, if they attend the meeting at both days.
The preliminary programme will be updated under fall 2011. The registration is open now. Deadline for registration 1 March 2012.
We hope to meet you in March 2012 in Umeå!
The Organizing Committee Hannele Tuominen, Johannes Messinger, Stellan Marklund, Per Gardeström, Göran Samuelsson
